Hybrid vehicles or electronic cars are getting more and more popular in the United States, but they have very limited numbers among European market. With the increasing concern about environment and global warming issue, nowadays Europe is in need for more hybrid cars, and Toyota answers the challenge by launching the new Toyota Auris hybrid.

The European market is in favor for hybrid cars as well as hatchback design, so this car seems to answer and complete all of those requirements. It uses the similar platform of Toyota Corolla, which is famous for its quality and strength. Just like all Toyota cars, it’ll be equipped with Synergy Hybrid Drive system. It has 4 cylinder petrol of 1.8 liter engine with electric motor, generator, and battery under the boot floor.

The drivers are given three choices in driving mode: the Normal, the Eco, and the Power mode. In Normal mode, the car runs on electronic motor like in the electric car, depending on the battery capacity. In Eco mode, the fuel safe technology is applied with optimized air conditioning system. While in Power mode, the throttle input is boosted stronger than the Normal mode, in order to increase power for faster acceleration.

Plus and Minus of Hyundai Elantra

2004 Hyundai Elantra GT

Everything always comes with two sides; the positive and negative side. There’s no such thing such total 100% perfection, unless you’re a perfect human yourself. The same thing goes for automotive ride. No matter how hard you try, the long hours of research, experiment, and observations, there’s always something that aren’t right and not in harmony with other elements.

Hyundai Elantra, despite the good and positive reviews and its first place in Buzz Award 2010, still has those flaws. Of course it’s consumers’ favorite and liked by automotive fans, but it doesn’t mean that the ride is free from several down points.

The positive side of this ride is the interior space is quite roomy, with enough space for the legs, just like the one mid-size sedan. It also has enough space for cargo and stuff. The performance is great and qualified, with nice ride, smooth transmission, and responsive power. The car implements fuel economy technology, which is certainly a good news for drivers.

However, here comes the negative side. The outer appearance isn’t very appealing. The engine can also be quite noisy when accelerating, which is quite annoying. There’s nothing new or interesting in the Bluetooth technology, making the vehicle seem boring after some time.

Tesla Battery’s Plan for Further Use

tesla-model-s-electric-car-photo-post001

Electric cars depend so much on one running part: the batteries. With that consideration, Tesla and other auto manufacturers has made calculations and developments and also research on battery division. With a plan for electronic car batteries means that profit can still be generated at low sale point. Tesla has even made battery plan for its S sedan line. The company’s sure that it’ll make profit higher but with lower sales than the Leaf.

The new S sedan is considered to be launched around the price of $ 57.000 and using the small cell batteries just the same as cell batteries in laptops. The company – and several other electric auto manufacturers – has considered using larger lithium-ion batteries, which will provide bigger electric power for the cars. But that plan makes the company face another problem for the cost which is quite difficult to solve.

That’s why it’s better to still use small cell batteries supplied by Panasonic Corp, which will be cost effective for the future than larger batteries. The battery pack cost only $ 200/kw compared to $ 700 or $ 800 for bigger battery pack. With the small battery arrangement, they don’t need to spend more cost on research and development for battery plan.
