Lady Gaga dress up like Nanny McPhee for Sting's Rainforest Fund charity benefit

Double take: Lady Gaga arrived at Carnegie Hall in New York for a charity benefit last night looking just like Nanny McPhee

Lady Gaga leaves no stone unturned in her search for style inspiration.

And last night the eccentric star apparently found it in the form of Emma Thomson's famous children's character, Nanny McPhee.

The Paparazzi singer arrived at Carnegie Hall in New York for a charity benefit in a dramatic black gown that mirrored magical time-travelling nanny's trademark cloak.

Her hair, which appeared to be a shade of grey, was pulled back into a matronly bun too.

Gravity defying: The singer was wearing strange black boots that had her walking on her tippy toes

Thankfully, there were no warts in sight and Lady Gaga gave the look her own twist with a pair of gravity defying tippy toe boots.

Later she changed into a white confection as she joined Sting on stage at a benefit concert for the Rainforest Fund's 21st Birthday Celebration.

The pair were then joined by Dame Shirley Bassey, Debbie Harry and Bruce Springsteen for a rousing rendition of Don't Stop Believin' by eighties group Journey.

The 24-year-old star wore a delicate-looking white dress that appeared to be constructed from layers of thread wrapped around her body.

Fundraising: The stars got together to raise money on the 21st birthday of Sting's Rainforest Foundation

She also wore a matching white floral headpiece for the performance of Stand By Me, for which she played the piano.

Amusingly she had to remove one of her huge shoes in order to be able to operate the piano pedal.

The night also saw individual performances from the stars, with Elton John covering Madonna's Like A Virgin to great effect playing on his reputation as a diva queen surrounded by half-naked male dancers.

The price of fashion: Gaga removes one of her oversized shows so she can operate the pedals on the piano

Mary J.Blige also made an appearance to perform a duet with Sting and actress Kate Hudson was amongst the celebrity contingent who lent their support to the event.

Meanwhile, Blondie star Debbie Harry arrived at the event in one of the Big Apple's famous yellow taxis.

The event was produced by Sting's wife Trudie Styler, who co-founded the Rainforest Foundation with her husband in 1989.

Since then the Foundation has been supporting indigenous peoples and traditional populations of the rainforest in their efforts to conserve their land and defend their rights.

Earlier this week Lady Gaga picked up four ECHO Awards in Berlin.

She was given the accolades for Best International Female Artist, Best Single Of The Year for her single Poker Face and Best International Newcomer.

Gaga wore a long black crepe dress and with a black veil covering her face at a photocall at the O2 World Arena in the German capital.

The singer will no doubt be exhausted after performing in Berlin and Hamburg earlier this week as part of the European leg of her Monster Ball tour.

Her appearance in New York took place during a three-day break from her tour before she heads back to Europe - hitting the Netherlands before travelling to Belgium and France and then bringing the tour to the UK on May 27.

Messy: Pixie Lott arrived at the New Image hair salon in Shenfield, Essex, on Friday with her hair scraped back into a scruffy bun

She arrived at the hair salon with her hair scraped back in a messy bun.

But just hours later, Pixie Lott emerged from the New Image hairdressers in Shenfield, Essex, with her long blonde locks tamed into a trendy long style.

Wearing a backless cream dress from her own range for Lipsy, Pixie looked fresh and summery - despite the black biker boots she chose to accessorise the outfit.

Sleek: But she later emerged with glistening hair which had been tamed into a glamorous style

The 19-year-old singer was ensuring she was fully groomed and preened before taking to the stage at Birmingham's LG Arena on Friday night to support Rihanna on the first night of her UK tour.

But while Pixie could have chosen any hair salon to make sure her locks were in tip-top condition, the Mama Do singer opted to visit a hairdressers in the town of Shenfield, Essex - just two miles from her hometown of Brentwood.

Pixie shot to fame after releasing her debut single Mama Do last June. She has since had a string of hit singles including Boys And Girls and Cry Me Out

Rihanna's decision to ask Pixie to support her on her The Last Girls On Earth tour has secured Pixie's place as the new princess of pop, and the teenager is enjoying every second.

After performing before Rihanna in Liverpool last night, Pixie - who wore a sheer black dress for the occasion - excitedly tweeted: 'Ahh man liverpool it was the tops! I loved the crowd u lot r the besttttttt.

'I love this whole tour ting thats goin on right bout now, haha!'

Katy Perry goes kaleidoscopic for night out clubbing with Russell Brand as sexy single cover is revealed

Protective: Russell Brand keeps his arm firmly around fiancée Katy Perry as they leave Trousdale nightclub in Los Angeles

While some women shy away from bright colours and bold prints, Katy Perry has never been afraid to experiment with fashion.

The 25-year-old showed off her unique sense of style last night as she enjoyed a night out clubbing in New York with her fiancé Russell Brand.

And Katy wasn't the only one to be excited by her trendy ensemble of a kaleidoscopic-style dress and matching purple heels, as Russell couldn't keep his hands off his bride-to-be when they left Trousdale nightclub

Stylish: Katy wore a colourful dress for the evening out while Russell stuck to black

The pair were out celebrating the upcoming release of Katy's new single California Gurls, which also features Snoop Dogg.

The track will debut on U.S. radio on May 25 before its release, but has already been leaked on the internet - to the delight of many of Katy's loyal fans.

While some have likened Katy's new sound to Ke$ha, others have labelled the track the 'anthem of the summer'.

And it seems Katy is determined to get into the summer spirit early, as she took inspiration from the bejewelled bikini she wears on the cover of the single for last night's look.

Sexy: The cover of Katy's new single California Gurls shows the singer wearing a bejewelled bikini and bright blue wig

She also tweeted earlier this week: 'Having a dance party in car right now in Times Square dancing 2 my song California Gurls... We're gonna have so much fun this summer! Gahh!'

However, while Katy opted for a colourful dress, Russell stuck to his wardrobe staples of a black t-shirt and jeans - teamed with a pair of sunglasses to ward off the paparazzi's flashes.

Katy and Russell are said to be planning to marry in India later this year, with celebrity guests at the ceremony including Rihanna as Katy's maid of honour.

Trendy lady: Katy wore a short skirt and her favourite purple heels on a shopping trip in New York on Thursday

And Katy, who is thought to be planning to wear a wedding dress which shows off her flat stomach, has already started preparations - including a pre-wedding diet and exercise regime.

She said recently: 'I'm preparing a little bit here and there. I have to stop eating McDonald's and start my dance classes!'

Rude girl Rihanna squeezes into VERY revealing PVC body on first night of UK tour

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eCohv6_OrvIendofvid

Risque: Rihanna wore a variety of sexy outfits including this PVC leotard with matching boots

Rihanna wowed fans as she kicked off her UK tour in Birmingham last night, despite being over an hour late.

The 22-year-old star finally made it on to the stage at the LG Arena more than an hour after she was expected to start the show.

But at least Rihanna had a good excuse for being late - she is said to have spent the time searching for a makeup mirror in her dressing room.

Coordinated: Rihanna looked as though she was thoroughly enjoying herself as she kicked off the UK leg of her Last Girl On Earth tour

However, the singer's late arrival on stage didn't seem to bother her thousands of fans who had travelled from far and wide to see the Rude Boy star in action.

And they certainly weren't disappointed.

Rihanna kept things sexy and fresh with a variety of risque outfits including a PVC high-cut leotard, a white ribbon bodysuit and a plunging sparkly one piece.

But the singer did maintain her dignity by wearing a nude bodysuit under her more revealing costumes.

Revealing: The Rude Boy singer wowed ans with this spiderweb-style bodysuit

Having a ball: Rihanna laughed and clapped as she was cheered on by fans at Birmingham's LG Arena

And the singer also had some interesting props for the performance - including a Mickey Mouse style hard hat and pink tank, which she rode on to the stage.

Rihanna performed a selection of her hit songs including Rude Boy, Disturbia, Take A Bow, Te Amo, Russian Roulette, Good Girl Gone Bad, Umbrella and Rehab.

She was also supported by British singer Pixie Lott, who took to her Twitter page after the show to tell fans: 'The show was amaaazinn cant wait for more'
Rihanna's two-week Last Girl On Earth tour will take in venues in Liverpool, Manchester, Sheffield, Nottingham, Newcastle, Glasgow and Belfast.

Heavy artillery: Rihanna straddles a pink tank wearing a Mickey Mouse hard hat for one song

Biker girl: She accessorised her sparkly bodysuit with some biker boots

She has also signed up to perform at the Capital FM Summerball, which takes place at Wembley Stadium on June 6.

Other stars performing at the huge concert include Usher, JLS, Cheryl Cole and Justin Bieber.

But while Rihanna is clearly in her element performing to fans worldwide, there is one person she misses when she is away from her hometown of Los Angeles - her boyfriend Matt Kemp.

Essex girl: Pixie Lott was the support act for Rihanna's show

She said recently: 'I’m touring and shooting videos for my next single so it’s going to be seven weeks before I see Matt again.

'We have to make do with Skype and phone, but I miss him. I can’t wait to see him again. It’ll probably be when I get back to America that we can hook up properly.'

Lady Gaga suffers wobbly vocals on American Idol as first signs of tour fatigue sets in

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eXpxjPuEm6kendofvid

By Georgina Littlejohn

Lacy: Lady Gaga performs on American Idol last night but her vocals suffered a shaky start when she first took to the stage

Could her worldwide tour be taking its toll on Lady Gaga's voice?

The singer suffered a vocal malfunction as she performed her new single on American Idol last night.

The strong voice normally demonstrated by the 24-year-old star sounded much weaker than normal as she took to the stage on the U.S. talent show.

The singer started her performance sitting at a piano which she played as she sang the opening lines of her hit song Bad Romance.

But she appeared to struggle slightly with the song, her voice slightly shaking at times.

And during the opening lines, she even appeared to go slightly out of harmony as she came in on the wrong note.

It was lucky she wasn't being judged by Simon Cowell and Co. or she might not have made it through to the next round.

Hooded figure: Gaga sings in what appears to be a see-through hooded mac which covered her fishnet bodystocking

And in true Lady Gaga style, her outrageous outfit managed to distract everyone away from her wobbly vocals, which she showed off as she made her way from the piano to the front of the stage.

She gracefully shimmied her way forward as semi-naked dancers gyrated around her.
She then launched into her new song Alejandro covered in a long black chiffon hooded cloak.

Raunchy: Semi-naked male dancers gyrate round Gaga as she launches into her new single Alejandro

Risque: Her male dancers rip off her cloak revealing her sexy bodystocking underneath

That was then ripped off by her dancers to reveal a fishnet bodystocking decorated with lace.

But while she delighted the crowd with her dancing and outrageous outfit, she was still struggling to recover from her wobbly start.

It's hard not to be sympathetic, however, her Monster Ball Tour is a mammoth undertaking.

It started in the States in November last year, before it made its way to the UK in February, and then headed onto Australia, New Zealand and Japan in March, the last gig of that gig played in Yokohama on April 18.

Younger model: Gaga looks uncannily like Madonna as she struts her stuff on stage

She brings the tour back to Europe and back to the UK this month but she won't have long to rest her poor voice.

Today she takes the tour to Sweden, then on to Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, France before heading to the UK on May 28, and then back to the US and Canada in June, before heading back to Europe again in October to play across the continent right through to December.

Phew! She'll have earned a break by then.

Back to playing mother for Christina Aguilera as the raunchy singer has a day out with her son and husband

Motherly instincts: Christina Aguilera with her son Max during a trip to Blackman Cruz in Hollywood

Last week we saw Christina Aguilera going back to her raunchy best in the video for her new song Not Myself Tonight.

Fast forward a few days and the singer was back to her motherly guise as she took son Max shopping at Blackman Cruz.

The 29-year-old singer took her two-year-old out with her as she shopped with husband Jordan Bratman at the arts store on North Highland Avenue in Hollywood

Dressed down: The singer took her son Max to the arts store in Hollywood

In total contrast to her recent video, Christina was covered up with a black hooded top over her T-shirt, grey leggings with black knees pads and a pair of ballet flats.

While son Max, who appears to be taking on his father's characteristics more than his mother's, looked ultra cute with a children's trilby, a colourful T-shirt, jeans and Nike trainers.

A well-known art collector, Christina would have no doubt had a field day at the shop, which specialises in furniture, antiques, art and home interiors.

Family day out: Christina's husband Jordan Bratman holds the door of their car open for his wife and son

Unorthodox mother: The Dirrrty singer defended having sculptures of naked women around her son saying it's a thing of beauty

Prices for the goods found at the store are said to be 'stratospheric'.

For instance a nickel plated bronze skull lamp will set you back $2,700, while a
studded bronze plated mirror, 42" in diameter, costs $6,200.

In 2006 Aguilera is said to have picked up some work by notorious British street artist Banksy, spending £25,000 on three pieces.

Previously talking about her love of art - especially nude paintings and sculptures - Miss Aguilera told People magazine: 'We’re big art collectors so there’s lots of female nudes around the house.'

Happy families: The singer, her husband and her son visited the Blackman Cruz store where prices for their art goods are said to be 'stratospheric'

Crowd: Christina wears a sparkly leotard as she is surrounded by male dancers clad in leather in the Not Myself Tonight video

And she defended having such risque work around her young son, saying: 'It’s something to be respected and seen as a thing of beauty. I think it’s only weird whenever you shame it and raise your child to look at it in a weird light.'

She also spoke to Access Hollywood this week about juggling her roles as both a mother and a sex symbol, saying: 'Mama still has to be me. I never claimed to be a cookie-cutter soccer mom. That’s all good for some people. Not for me.

'[Max is] going to learn to respect the fact that women are allowed to express themselves and not feel shameful about their bodies or their sexuality.'

She also revealed that her son's two favorite singers are Rihanna and, of course, his mother.

Christina admitted: 'He’s really into Rihanna. And he does say, ‘Put in mama’s song, put in mama’s song.’ And then he goes – ‘Go cazy! Go cazy!’ It’s so cute.'

Jennifer Lopez comes all the way to London for The Back-Up Plan premiere... but the biggest star in attendance is Kerry Katona

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=87V24vaNDRgendofvid

By Daily Mail Reporter

High fashion: Jennifer Lopez looked chic in a Lanvin leather dress and Salvatore Ferragamo heels as she arrived at the London premiere of her film The Back-Up Plan

It is a sight most celebrity-watchers thought they'd never see - Jennifer Lopez sharing the red carpet with Kerry Katona.

In a case of A-list meets D-list, Katona appeared to be the most famous guest in attendance at Jennifer Lopez's film premiere in London's Leicester Square, which was besieged by Z-listers.

While Katona looked svelte in a black jumpsuit and heels, she couldn't match up with the Hollywood glamour exuded by J-Lo.

The mother-of-twins, 40, showed off her curves in an asymmetrical leather Lanvin gown and a pair of black satin Salvatore Ferragamo heels, completing her look with a huge beehive.

Katona's arrival at the premiere marked the 29-year-old's first big media event since moving from Cheshire to Surrey last week.

While Lopez was in good company at her LA premiere last week with celebrity pal Heidi Klum, the London premiere attracted a host of reality TV stars.

Among those in attendance were Big Brother 8 twins Sam and Amanda Marchant, Love Island winner Bianca Gascoigne, X Factor runner-up Stacey Solomon and socialites Tamara Ecclestone and Hofit Golan.

Golan made sure she stood out from the crowd in a bizarre white and blue asymmetrical dress with flesh-baring panels cut out at the side

Back in the spotlight: Kerry Katona enjoyed being in the limelight in a black jumpsuit

Also at the Vue cinema was X Factor 2008 winner Alexandra Burke in a fishnet dress, TV presenter Jenni Falconer and classical boy band Blake.

Lopez has travelled from LA to New York to Paris to Madrid in the past week on her gruelling promotional tour for the new movie - her first big film role in three years - before arriving in London today.

She was joined by on-screen love interest Australian actor Alex O'Loughlin and director Alan Poul.

The film stars Lopez as pet store owner Zoe, who resorts to artificial insemination to get pregnant after failing to find the right man.

J-Lo mania: Lopez delighted fans as she signed autographs and posed for photographs with the hundreds of fans crowded into Leicester Square

Screen stars: Lopez joined her Australian co-star Alex O'Loughlin and director Alan Poul

It's only after she finds out the IVF has been successful and that she is expecting that she meets handsome Stan (O'Loughlin), who may or may not be the man of her dreams.

The film reached an acceptable number two at the U.S. box office last weekend, but failed to beat No.1 How To Train Your Dragon, which was released four weeks ago.

The film has received more negative reviews than positive, but critics seem to be in universal agreement that Lopez looks stunning on screen.

Standing out: (L-R) Tamara Ecclestone looked very tanned in her purple mini-dress, Israeli socialite Hofit Golan flashed the flesh in an unusual dress, while TV presenter Jenni Falconer played it casual in jeans

Time magazine critic Mary Pols wrote: 'The actress who charmed in The Wedding Planner and held her own with George Clooney in Out Of Sight seems to have forgotten everything she ever knew about acting.

'The best that can be said about her is that she's game for some mortifying on-screen moments. But whether Zoe is having a pelvic exam or a spontaneous screaming orgasm brought on by kissing (supposedly generated by pregnancy hormones, but we're dubious), Lopez always looks more like she's posing for In Style than embodying a real woman.'

America's leading film critic Roger Ebert said: 'Jennifer Lopez has never looked better. That's about all she does here, is look better.'

Back to reality: (L-R) X Factor 2009 third-place Stacey Solomon, Love Island winner Bianca Gascoigne and X Factor 2008 winner Alexandra Burke

Speaking on the red carpet last night, Lopez said she told the director to include the less attractive elements of pregnancy in the movie.

She said: 'There's a couple of scenes in the movie where I'm eating and pigging out and they didn't put them in the first cut - I was like "Listen guys, this is extremely important for women."

'They need to see me pigging out. This is what happens when you get pregnant. You get really sleepy. You get really hungry. You get gas.'

• The Back-Up Plan is due for release in the UK on May 7.

Twin-credible: Big Brother twins Sam and Amanda Marchant

Dapper: (L-R) Stephen Bowman, Jules Knight, Humphrey Berney and Oliver Baines of classical boy band Blake

Christina Aguilera is back to her Dirrty best in sexy new video

Sexy in red: Christina Aguilera poses in a skimpy underwear set in front of a fireplace

She's most famous for shocking the world with chaps and sexy dancing in her Dirrty video.

But Christina Aguilera is showing no sign of toning things down, as the promo for her new video Not Myself Tonight shows the singer in a variety of skimpy underwear sets performing what appears to be an extremely sexy dance routine.

By Sarah Bull

While the video for the single is not released until the end of the month, Christina is aiming to tease fans with tantalising glimpses of the naughty footage.

Revealing: The singer wears a chain outfit with pointed pasties and ball gag

The 29-year-old singer dons a red bra and knickers set with a long necklace as she poses provocatively in front of a fireplace, before wearing an outfit made entirely made of chains - with just pointed pasties to maintain her decency.

She also appears to have a ball gag in her mouth in the clearly S&M inspired video.

In another shot, Christina wears her hair tied back in a long ponytail as she wears a revealing cut-out swimsuit while bending her body into sexy poses

Skimpy: With her long hair tied into a ponytail, Christina performs the sexy routine

Profile: The cutout swimsuit showed off Christina's incredible figure

The 11-second teaser trailer was revealed to fans ahead of the April 30 release of the video.

In another glimpse in the preview, Christina is seen reclining on a chair in the red underwear while a shirtless man seductively leans over her.

Not Myself Tonight is the comeback single for Christina, who has had a four year absence from the music scene to focus on motherhood.

Sensual: In the red underwear, Christina reclines on a chair with a man above her

Seductive: Christina runs her hands over her slim body

The track is taken from the singer's fourth studio album Bionic, which marks a departure from the pop style that made her famous into an edgier, more dance-orientated style.

Talking to U.S. radio DJ Ryan Seacrest earlier this month about the inspiration behind the new track, Christina said: 'Since my last record I’ve become a wife and a new mum, and I’ve changed a lot.

Fierce: The singer wears sparkly red lipstick and huge fake eyelashes for the video

'I actually grew a lot while filming my new movie Burlesque. I was finished on my record and I put it on hold so I could go film the movie, and by the time I was finished with the movie I had more things to say and more stories to write about and that’s how Not Myself Tonight, the first single, kind of got birthed.

'It was just exactly what I was feeling. I’d grown and changed so much, learning so much on the film about myself and my craft and the craft of acting that it just came full circle for me.'
