Strappy dress: Oscars co-presenter Anne Hathaway holds her arms out in an ad for this year's Academy Awards

Anne Hathaway suffers a wardrobe malfunction in this jokey new advert for this year's Oscars.

The actress, who will host the Academy Awards with James Franco, can be seen on-stage presenting a gong when her dress slips off her shoulder.

Franco runs to her rescue, throwing a red blanket around the star to prevent her blushes.

Earlier in the advert, the pair are seen working out in the gym, lifting mini Oscar statues as weights, wearing T-shirts that read: 'Oscar host in training.'

The ceremony, which will be hosted at the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood, airs on February 27 on the ABC network in the States.

The King's Speech, starring Colin Firth and Helena Bonham Carter, is leading the way with 12 nominations, including best picture, director (Tom Hooper), actor (Firth), supporting actress (Bonham Carter) and supporting actor (Geoffrey Rush).

True Grit followed with 10 nominations, while The Social Network and Inception were tied with eight. The Fighter received seven.

First-time nominated actors include Jesse Eisenberg (The Social Network), James Franco (127 Hours), Christian Bale (The Fighter), Jennifer Lawrence (Winter's Bone), Hailee Steinfeld (True Grit) and Jacki Weaver (Animal Kingdom).

More than 5,700 members of the Academy - including actors, directors, producers, studio executives, composers and behind-the-cameras crew - cast secret ballots to determine the Oscar winners.
